2017 Elsie MacKenzie Youth/Junior Curling Award – Carmen Murray Carmen is a committed and competitive athlete who enjoys sharing her passion for curling with the youth. She is a great coach who has been able to drive the growth of the youth program at Elkford Curling Club. Carmen coaches Little Rookies and Junior curlers, leading events and activities for 35 curlers in four leagues and travels with the Optimist curlers to other clubs in the East Kootenays. She has a year-round commitment to the sport and is always looking for opportunities for our young curlers.
2016 Janette Robbins Award (Builder) - Colleen Trozzo Colleen has been instrumental in bringing youth curling back to Elkford Curling Club. As an executive member of the curling club, Colleen recognized that having younger curlers at the club was key to its ongoing success. Her efforts coaching, arranging coaching clinics and leagues resulted in a strong Junior program in Elkford. The word was out among the kids that curling was fun!
Lifetime Membership Award - Terry Vandale At the 2017 CurlBC Awards, Terry was presented with a Lifetime Membership award for 30 years of service. Terry served as Chairman for 6 years, and worked on every board subcommittee on the provincial committee, including the BC Scotties. She used her knowledge and wisdom to provide guidance to the Board but also rolled up her sleeves to work with enthusiasm when tackling all issues. She is a true inspiration.
2014 CurlBC Pat Kennedy Award (Long Service Volunteer) - Marianne Bauld Marianne served as the president of the Elkford Curling Club for more than a decade. She also volunteered with the club’s Junior programs, helping to inspire the younger generation to curl.
